We caught up with Shelby from to blind dates Chris who fell in love with this Uber driver Farrah who is no longer getting breadcrumbed And Rog co-host Michael Vargas who seems to be getting someone who may not be completely divorced. Well this week. Let's start with cat who appeared on season 5 episode 8 the one where she confronts controversial guest Jake about his life interesting views on dating in San Francisco versus New York at the end of the episode cat announced that she quit her job and packed up her life to set out on an adventure around the world. Where did she learn from dating around the globe? That's here from cat cat meow. So the last time we spoke or at least the last time you were on our show you were about to become this dog. Globetrotter and date around the world. Yeah and also report back what it's like to date around the world. So now it's your moment to report that what were some where did you go off first of all and then what were some of the main differences you saw and other dating scene's versus in how you were dating in San Francisco? Yeah. So I was kind of all over the place mostly in South America. So starting the Caribbean and then travel down through South America and then I spent some time in Bali as well and Indonesia ago and then for the past couple of months, I've been in Mexico City. So I've kind of been all over the place and have you dated in every city. I have I wouldn't say day off because and this is the weird thing like before I left. I felt like when I went abroad I would be dating the way that I dated here like meeting someone like George. Going on a date like seeing if you like them, etc. Etc. And then I quickly realize like I'm reverting back to like my twenty one year old self. I'm staying in hostels off with random like foreign guys. Like is it because different there? Do you think it's cuz you were like an expat traveling I think like both reason, so I was first of all is in like this group of like Travelers because I was like more focused on traveling it was staying in hostels, right? So you have other people that are also like backpack right stuff. So you're in more of like a party. Yeah. Yeah party Vibe. So I like reverted back to college job ya college level stuff and like I was meeting amazing people, but I wasn't thinking like, oh, I need to go on a date with them know like we hang out and we do fun activities together. Because we're both travelling the world and seeing stuff. So it's just like the wake up and then hook hello massage each other's thoughts. Right? Sometimes I would meet people other people who were travelling. Sometimes I would meet like local people. I remember like in Patagonia. I was in the middle of nowhere in Patagonia was like the the last place I would ever think that it would ever find a guy and I look into a bar and it's like a 12 walked over to like wait on me and I'm like, oh what twelve like in the ten-point scale? Yeah, and he's like gorgeous Argentinean guy. We shacked up in his shock that he was like literally Shack tapped up in the shack and like that was really lovely but it's like, okay now I'm leaving and we still keep in touch and stuff. So it's more like organic. What's the craziest? Yeah dog. Story was I like the craziest is by far Brazil Brazil is in terms of like being sexually open Brazil's probably the most sexually open place of ever been down to it's very much.

00:05:01 - 00:10:02

Like why wouldn't you have sex with someone that you're attracted to write like the whole like holding back is nothing no black men and women are equally as aggressive sexually, you know, I think men are still more but women are definitely like down to go down. It's not the women are holding out. Yeah, right. So the no waiting for the third date they dating though. There's no dating right or yeah, I mean people due date there. Like they have they go out with each other and have relationships and stuff, but it's definitely more free if you meet someone at a bar or you meet someone out like you're going to go have sex with them. Like why would you not dead? Yeah, kind of thing. We're here. It's almost looked down on a little yeah totally. So there's no Walk of Shame then Walk of Fame in the right. It's like yeah, I just have sex what I've had so many walks of Shame walks a shave and Brazil come with like Carnivale like walking into like the bakery on it's like it's a Tuesday at 8 a.m. I've got glitter all over my face and people are like, hey know what you've been down there. They like high-fiving. Yeah, and they're like this happens all the time Jive. Everyone's having a good so you're getting to your craziest moment in Brazil. Yeah, so I'm proud to say I am in Brazil. I had my first threesome. Oh, wow, two guys. Are you guys? Okay. Yes. That was everything. I could have dreamed of birth. To take a lunch tell us more that's logistic. Well, I'm not going to go that far into it. But it was just like one of those things that happened really organically and I was just like hanging out this guy started talking to me in the bathroom and then like ended up hanging out with him and his friend and went back to like their hotel. I thought it was going to be with one guy and then I got like nope. It was too and they just started going after it. I'm not going to say no to this right now. No. Yeah, and I just remember the next day coming home just off and I think I said, I'm pretty sure I sent you guys a video or something just to clarify a video of you telling us videos of the Reserve. I would have paid to see but you said this is the wrong video video. Yeah. So I feel like I really got to explore my sexuality in Brazil a lot birth. I I'm a sexual person and there it was just completely fine to like Let your freak flag fly, right? Like like everyone makes out with each other like really quickly. Yeah, you can meet someone for like five minutes and they go in to kiss you and that's completely normal people on the street will kiss each other. So I remember one of your complaints about dating in SF SF men weren't aggressive opposite and this is clear the opposite. Yeah, what are your thoughts now that you've experienced the opposite. I love the song weird being back. Are you likewise? Nobody making out with me yet? Yeah. I mean I pretty much know like when I come back to San Francisco. I'm like it's going to be my syllabus. Yeah. I like it's true like a nice rest. Yeah. I mean, it's like a retreat. It's the time to recover. Where are you going over China Retreat AKA, San Francisco A true though, it's like well, she want to take a break from my waxing get it all you know back in order now in Brazil. Did you find the was there anything that you weren't okay with or were not comfortable with? I think the main thing in Brazil was like it was so much fun. And it was like during summer and Carnevale. It's partying. Everyone is hooking up like having very special situations. One thing that's very common. There is people cheating on each other. I met a lot of people that were like, I need to be in an open relationship or there's like one side that they're like, you know Catholic and have that but then they also have this like Progressive side to we're not natural to only be with one person and all the time and not so that's like more of a discussion. I was thinking to myself like would I be okay being with a man knowing that he was going to write be with other women right off? And because that's kind of the standard there I would say I mean not everyone but and I was thinking to myself like if I were to fall in love with somebody here, it's almost like you have to kind of set the expectation like, okay.

00:10:02 - 00:15:01

Are you going to be with other people? Like I know you probably are so let's have that conversation and like what are the boundaries of our life situations like the consequence of being so overly sexual? Yeah that like this is what happened. Yeah, and I always with guys who later on I would ask them straight up if they were married and they would like lie to my face, you know, I mean, isn't that that's so weird. Is that on one hand? It's like okay. It's expected that people cheat but on the other hand they're lying about it because they it's just wrong the Apple do it, but it's still wrong to hook up with them. So they know that if they say yes, you're going to be like no. Yeah or less likely right or taken back. Yeah. So are you okay? I still haven't really figured it out. But what I do know is that I'm way more open to giving other types of relationships a chance check dominada me non-monogamy or like bisexuality and I met a guy who was bisexual who has attracted to in Brazil and well in Columbia. Okay, he told me he was bisexual and I said, oh normally that would be like a turn off to me and he kind of like put me in my place like interesting like women need to accept men being like more open with their sexuality and everyone should be like that in general and I was like, wow, I'm meeting my Progressive, you know, people are making me like be like, yeah, I think they'd be okay. Yeah, like interesting in San Francisco Progressive and then yeah feel like this. I know I know I'm meeting people who are also traveler right who live different Lifestyles and like the normal person dead. When you meet local people it is different like right they tend to be more traditional true that horde of people and is it makes travel? I it might be more like you're on vacation. You're getting a lot. You're partying a lot. You're looking up like totally so, where are you now? So right now I'm in San Francisco. So I'm pretty celibate vagina vagina vagina right now, but I'm going to be going back to Brazil. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah Sharon. She she deserves home after this past year. It was really open to like whatever was coming my way and I was not closed off to a relationship but I wasn't necessarily like seeking out a relationship. I was more like if it happens it happens. If it doesn't it doesn't I'm still kind of continuing in that way, but do you feel I would like to find a partner some time in Brazil. It doesn't have to be in Brazil. But you're choosing to go back to Brazil. I'm not choosing the places based off of like where I think I'm going to find off my best chance of finding a person or a partner right? I'm going to places that make me feel happy. Is there anything you miss about dating in San Francisco, but not really to be honest. Not really. I definitely like felt like here guys with like take me out more. Yeah like a proper day. Yeah, you felt like it was like a property where most of what I was doing was meeting people at parties or meeting people out just like in normal life, which is like more organic, but it wouldn't be a big production kind of all I had to do this it would just be like, hey, well, do you want to hang out later? I'm going to go do this. You want to come with me. Right? Right. So we're casual. It's more casual. Yeah, so feels like a younger version. And but also it's a product of what you are doing to really yeah. Yeah, cool. All right. Well, thanks for that update. Yeah, once you get to Brazil, we probably won't be hearing from me. You know, there's another threesome. I'll get the video The Right video video. But when you're done with The Sex Dungeon there you can always let us know. What's up, if you Revisited some old lovers and you you know wanted to pursue something with someone. Oh, yeah, definitely. Let us know all of that. I will keep you posted, We we know you you know, you will get thank you. Thank you guys have fun. I will see you later. If you remember from season 4 episode 6 months, she'll came on our show talking about perceptions and misconceptions from his social media. It seems that Shield doesn't have time to date. He's always traveling and doing cool things but didn't exactly give birth. Off the boyfriend Vibe. However, she always so ready to find the one during that episode. We gave his Bumble profile a makeover to give off a more serious Vibe. So did it work? Let's find out. Yeah.

00:15:02 - 00:20:12

Hey, hey, we haven't talked to you in so long. We are here at Walmart boys. She'll tell us everything that has happened since your episode. So just a quick reminder in case you don't remember on your episode. We talked about perception and how you gave up this perception. At least I'll social media that you're always travelling the world out of town at cool events doing cool things so inaccessible and an unreachable and now you have some news to tell us yes, yeah. Engage, how did you guys be tell us everything cuz we haven't talked to you in so long and well introduce your fiance first. Hi there. Nice to meet you. Oh, we we want to hear everything about you about to marry one of the most eligible bachelors in San Francisco. So tell us the whole story. How did you guys meet? Oh on Tinder. Is this after you a helped you update your boss? It could be that I have you guys to think for this. You're welcome when we called you out. We called you out on the profile. Yeah when nothing happened. When did you guys match? Met in September of last year. We probably mashed in August or something. There was a while between our matching and actual first date why cuz you were like in Zimbabwe or something. Yeah, actually it's even worse after we after a first date because like in between each of our next several days. I was like getting some other country. Of course, it was like every other week. I was gone for three months. I'd say the wage. Yeah. So in those first three months, how often did you guys see each other but then after that we were on a regular most days that I was in town so he began a week and then back for 5 days. That provide a okay. So Katrina what made she'll worthwhile in and out in and out I mean I could tell him about the first day that he was smart. We interesting guy. We actually we didn't have like a ton of chemistry. I'd say on the first day early cos my God. It wasn't like. Oh my God, like I can't wait to go on a second date with you sort of a date, but I can definitely tell that he was worse second date and and then our second date, we like Giggles on my five or six hours. So it was it was a solid second date. But yeah definitely would instead. I actually I would say after a first date. I wasn't sure that there would be a second thought. Oh, why why is that from your point of view good but not great. And also I felt like we had met for like a t and it was only maybe an hour I was like motioning like oh but do something else and she was kind of like let's let's go home or like go on separately for the job. I think a lot of things are happening at several of our children. And so I was like, okay. Well I would call like she's smart and funny and beautiful, but I I don't know what's going to go and then we had good like Woody text adventure. Oh Georgia and it started when he checked manager. He sent me the table of a screenshot of the table of contents of a book. She was reading while that's that's sexy walk up a very very exciting. Wow, that's riveting. So then okay, how did that turn into witty banter and flirtations. He was travelling. You know he was in. I was making karaoke suggestion. I was walking through his neighborhood in the mission and he was like, oh like, you know stop here and looking forward to seeing you. Yeah. So when did that second date come around? I think it was 10 days after the first yeah. So how did it go from? Neither one of you thinking that there will be a second date to a second date. 00:20:12 - 00:25:11

Coaches and book your session today visit dateable podcast, now back to the show. So how did it go from? Neither one of you thinking that there will be a second day 2008 what happened? Text Adventure was really good quality text lanterman. Do this is something real and so she'll did you ask Katrina out on a second date? And I want to know Katrina. What did you think of she'll when you like knowing him for a little bit seeing that he travels so much what made you feel like there was potential for something long-term shielded that I really liked is that he and I were able to have the conversation early on as far as wage like, what are you looking for? And it wasn't like it wasn't a personal thing. Like I think sometimes people like you like that sort of a question is like Udemy t or something, but it was just like this a conversation like hey like this is what I'm looking for. Like what are you looking for out of curiosity and we had the conversation pretty early on. I feel like she'll like even like second or third date is like I'm looking for a long-term partner and I like, you know, funny it shipping people and never had the kind of sensation before and I always kind of take it with taking it with a grain of salt what other people said this but kind of the first two months that we were dating. I was like, oh man, like I think I might be getting my husband and you know, how when did you guys transition from Dave into an actual full out relationship can yeah like yeah, like pretty early on both of us. Was that a conversation Great to be mutually exclusive and kind of talked about kind of how we were feeling about each other and she'll when did you know? Yeah. If there was like a moment pretty early on like very early on I was like, oh, yeah, this is like for reals and what made Katrina a different than the other women that you had dated? Be going in understanding and then also just like really a great partner to like talk to and have stupid banter room and found. Let's go straight into the proposal. Tell us how you planned it. And what happened? She looks quite the planner. Oh boy in July we Katrina's mom took us to the resort place and they're like, oh this be like an interesting point to get married. I think we kind of deal we wanted to get married in 2019 sometime in Portland. They're only a few months or whether it's great. So I talked to their wedding planner person and then realized like these things booked up really fast. You're like from a pragmatic perspective like, okay. Well like like we're not going to get a venue before we get engaged. So I guess we should I you know, I mean, I'm not getting married from like a like a like we're like a really amazing match we moved in together around May and then she'll kind of like I'm ready whenever I didn't want to be like a surprise and kind of his friends jumped out to take pictures of us have to be like an Instagram proposal off like the biggest decision of Our Lives to be like a surprise moment. Like I want to say I'm like a series of Conversations about what marriage means to us? So so it's actually like I think kind of July and August we were kind of talking kind of threw that stuff in a conscientious like you really feel like you're like watching like the New York time like premarital questions. Yes, that's so important. They were all Terrible by the way, they do anything. Oh really? What's an example of a question what happens if you're like run out of money your life Partners in dead, right? I think that tends to be the thing that takes a lot of people of the other ones. I just remember them not really being that applicable right but also some of them I'm sure opens up another topic that is applicable like I think like if there were no there were no like shocking answers there for either of us. It was more night to just kind of spend that like mindful attention beforehand like oh, yeah, like we're like really investing in the foundation of our relationship before like making the huge decision Katrina. What is your relationship background? Cuz it sounds like you're you have experience going through Kind of like this thought process like not been engaged before. Should I live in the San Francisco for three years and have been dating her kind of the better part of that have had a couple longer relationships and that time. I really tried to like got a year relationship. I'm a very much like a self-help a shocker. shipping love book through For self taught how to how to be mindful in a relationship and different like methods of communication and my general background.

00:25:11 - 00:30:37

That's what you need though. You kind of need that in a relationship. So she feels very lucky. Northwestern marriage 101 I know don't you wish they offer that when we were in undergrad. I mean I would have taken that class many times. I choose fantastic. So when's the wedding October? Of 2019 and it's going to be in Portland. We've already have a summer camp. Oh, maybe like an Indian Indian Fusion considered Northwest. Oh, I love it off. Yeah, this is summer camp. I actually went to the kids. So it's linked onion what Timber was Stone fireplaces and a river that runs through and it's really great. Yeah. We're excited. It's because Scheels Indian we're going to have like two different ceremonies with the people leading up to an amazing. Isn't that what always happened? Yeah. That's the way it should be. Well, she'll you said you were looking real deal. We talked to you. Yeah, then your profile reflected it and now look what you got. Yeah. So again, you're welcome. You're welcome. Oh congratulations a guy's this is such good news, and we love hearing it because you know when we did the episode with she'll we're like, oh my God, this guy is such an eligible bachelor actually cash a check at he's so ready wage. So January, so we're just going to keep keep complimenting you. Yeah, like every you have to just sitting here taking it all that you're like nodding. I'm like, yep, I agree with you guys. So glad you guys found each other and it sounds like this is just magic and a bumble success in a bubble success story, but I still think you guys would have met each other in some capacity. So that's just way State work. Wow that's rare cuz she'll knows everyone off and it happened. I work in healthcare. Interviewing for a job in the Middle East when we met what wow, okay, fine. We'll give Bumble credit off while but again congratulations my profile. Yes. Exactly. Exactly. We know how to play that bubble game. Well, congratulations again. Thanks so much for taking the time and updating us on this great news. We might do another update after the wedding will talk to you later. Bye. All right, and she could forget polarizing guests bottle net from season 5 episode 1 his advice to his fellow SF daters is to date outside of San Francisco. He likes to go north country side where there's less smartphones and more Farmers daughters has a strategy change. Let's find out know. Hey Dad dead. Well, okay Tech bro. You're on the speakerphone. It's someone themselves, you know, they were crazy all of them. Why are you going there? Oh. like several Fucken disaster I mean my dating life. No, this is why we're doing this call right now just to check in with you. Tell us everything off. I decided I would like to make you the Pinder the tender machine because it seemed like I was getting a lower hit rate. And so I was like what the hell's going on here and then, you know exactly like like totally in San Francisco scene, you know, and he's like, okay, that's that's what's going on. I got me a hinge account and I was like, okay I'm working as well as my my GPS on my Tinder essentially like whenever I go out of town, it's still get me San Francisco people and I'm like, okay I might as well go for San Francisco fucking people are going to give him another chance off. I worked in the financial district and she's Thirty, you know, and she's like basically everything I hate and I'm like, okay, let me give this person chance. She sounds really nice for hanging out with her. The whole thing is just like her ridiculing me about how how why aren't you working today? You know, I'm like like no fucking actor auditioning and then if I'm lucky I fucking work like more than like twice a week or like once a week or whatever you'd like to kill but then also she's like really immature, you know, and I'm like dude like all the fucken girls that are like ten years younger than you than I usually go for like way more mature than you but she's always like I would want to change the time I do not want you to know that would make me the constant ridicule and the kind of overall immaturity that you had ironically, you know, pointing out my immaturity, which is just went out of town on complete your trip and then like in here from around like you okay? Okay in the Bay area, so I need this girl in Berkeley, right? And she seems totally normal.

00:30:38 - 00:35:14

Have a conversation about like different kinds of shifts that we've taken throughout our lives, you know, like a really great conversation. She's like, oh, I remember I did this once it was like shit shit shit. I her ship wait, this was a conversation on him and it was a nice. So you were like, this is the one. Okay, did you meet up with her? She's like 20 minutes late and I'm like, oh what happened to you, you know, we need up on the Berkeley Campus of the landmark, you know, and like what happened here. She's like, oh sorry. I was getting the guy a rim job, but like in completely depends on salons. Totally casual is say again complete up like a like a really kind of basic conversation for like ten minutes and then she said like when I asked her why were you late usually almost like he was saying I just had to stop by the store and pick up some milk only please. Do you mean like any guy ripped up surely? You're joking, you know if she's like no no other app, right? There's an app called seating arrangements and you know, I need extra money for oh my gosh. Guide to work in a Silicon Valley and they're older and say oh God. You were getting a rim job of guy who works disco and or something, you know, and she's like, yeah, you know, I'm thinking like wage like prostitution and then she went all my friends do it. I'm like friends are dead. So I take it that one didn't work out. Actually a really fun person to talk to be honest. Like I'm not cool completely. So what's the latest or is there anything worse than this Thursday at the craft Valley. I went back to the freaking part of America or whatever where all the heads are like I can't handle the Bay Area anymore on the done. So I went back to Grass Valley for antique bottle show and I was thinking last month, you know tendering while I was out of the hole in somebody else's in the whole life exploring exploring. It's not like are you kidding me. It's really impressive and I was like fawning. Over to her and she leveraged her artistic abilities and her carpentry skills have his business is amazing and I'm thinking I'm getting really into this for you. As soon as possible so I can stop being single for the love of God, please. I just need to stop being single in this day and age like ASAP, you know before I met her, you know, and then you know, like okay. Well what the fucking big problem going to be sure. There's going to be some huge issue at this girl like every single are fucking girl for the past fifteen years. Like I should be more cool and then there may be some problems. He's talking to me and we start smoking some weed together and then she's like, yeah, you know and like, you know, I got diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and I'm like I might have that like off too. So I never want to get pregnant and I'm like, oh and like I'm thinking like maybe if you just marry her in like he could give me my remote and then I can log And then put the egg into a surrogate mother and then check my sperm into the egg. We can kind of have a child. Anyway, I don't mind paying I'll fucking pale do anything to please marry me and she's like I got my diploma too long now myself. I'm like, well, I guess any worse than that and she's like I went down to South America and you know working at this restaurant and learning off without going any finished prior to that.

00:35:14 - 00:40:11

I'm like, wow that's really impressive of you know, I started working at this restaurant. There was like these five Italian Guys. We had this real cool like group sex one night after night. We close the door is it would medium five Italian Guys all at once and I don't know whether to be like turned on or like positively disgusted, you know, at that point. I kind of just strange like their minds loaner off. I guess, you know your sexual don't like, okay, not too bad. I can still probably work with this. I'm like my you seem like a really sexual person and she's like, well, you know from when I was nineteen years old age like Twenty-One. I used I used to be a escort my God. A lot of them are at some point in their life they're looking for and they have no family that like present for them and they need money. And so I'm like, okay don't be judging judging imagine being corrupted by the wait. Wait. Okay, who are you going to go see right now? Is this the same girl different girl? Oh, okay. So you're still seeing her. Well, you know and have lots of all that I'm really high right now and I'm freaking out and go on here. And then I hear I called, you know twenty of my close friends and family and life the same with like you should have more with this person because this person has like a very similar personalities very creative. And so you're you guys are dating fish. Victoria and it was really like everything.
